AAPG Geosciences Technology Workshop

“Fractured Carbonate Reservoirs”

The goal of the Geoscience Technology Workshop is to promote open discussion of the state-of-the-art on fractured carbonates. The forum is intended to promote collaboration on the impact of fractures in carbonates at both large and small scales. A range of session topics will integrate detailed observations and perspectives from inter-related fields of research such as structural geology, geomechanics, geophysics and reservoir engineering to better understand and predict the presence, distribution, controls and impact of fractures in carbonates. Inauguration of AAPG -FCP Student Chapter, India

Recently a program was organized to inaugurate the AAPG- FCP (Fergusson College Pune) Student Chapter in Department of Geology, Fergusson College, Pune, India. The program was held on 26th March 2011. Dr. R.G. Pardeshi, Principal of Fergusson College constantly encouraged the Department of Geology to start this chapter.

Visit of Adrienne and Peter to Jakarta

Visiting the IPA event in Jakarta (May 2011), AAPG Asia Pacific Council Vice President Peter Baillie and Programmes Manager Adrienne Pereira, met with Student Oversight Committee, headed by Edward Syafron. Together with the other members, Geovani Christopher and Agus Ustad, Asia Pacific’s Student Chapter Coordinator and Webmaster respectively, also provided great hospitality.

AAPG Geosciences Technology Workshop

“UNCONVENTIONAL HYDROCARBON PLAYS IN ASIA”

Singapore, (re-scheduled) possibly 15-16 March 2012

The goal of this workshop is to improve understanding of the distribution and quality of unconventional hydrocarbon plays throughout Asia. With a target geotechnical audience, this forum is intended to cover exploration for, and not marketing of, unconventional assets. The workshop will look at unconventional resource play mapping, estimate and analysis, sharing experience and ideas among the players in Asia during this very early phase of exploration to best use limited studies and conventional data to reduce risk. Proposed sessions will include Shale Gas Plays, Coal Seam Gas Plays and Other Alternate Hydrocarbon Plays for China, India and Southeast Asia, in detail and within the context of global analogues.
